Ontario Genealogy Database Index Site 350 000 Genealogy Records IndexedLutterworth Township, surveyed in 1859, was named after a town on the river Swift, in Leicestershire, England. Early settlers included the Kelletts from Peterborough, Wessells, Ellis, Harrison, John Graham, Thomas Ranson, Schraders, Mortimers, Robinsons, Harrisons and Galloways.
The 1869 Victoria County directory records a population of about 250 persons. In addition to the above names we find James Bignell, Anthony and John Bouron, Holden Crossley, John Cubitt, John and William Dryer, Benjamin and Solomon Eastman, David and W.J. Galloway, William Gidley, John Grogan, Donald and William Hartle, John and Austin Hilliard, John Hunter, Richard, Thomas, and William McCrachan, Mrs. McGure, Robert McKilvey, P. McNamara, Sylvanus and Thomas Moore, Moses Nelson, Edward and John O'Brien, Stephen Otto, James Pocock, Thomas Ranson, Warren Reynolds, Archibald and George Ross, John Scott, Timothy Tinen, James Waite, Nicholas and Stephen Wessells, Francis Whalley, Hiram Wilcox, Margaret and William Wright.
