
The DONALD Clan of Campbellford traces its ancestry back to Scotland where in 1764 great-great- great-grandfather Peter DONALD (1764 - May 1831) was born. He married Mary ANNAND on March 16,1803 in King Edward, Aberdeen Scotland. Peter's 2nd child, also named Peter, was born March 23,1805, at Foulzie, King Edward Aberdeen Scotland. Young Peter married Isobel TROUP on June 10,1832 in King Edward Aberdeen Scotland.
Peter and Isobel imigrated to Canada about 1834 and settled around Campbellford. Their first two children, James
and Margaret DONALD, were born at Aberdeen, Scotland;
Their next five children where born at Campbellford: Isabella,
born 1835, Alexander, born 1837; William, born June 08,
1839; Peter, born 1842, and Mary, born April 22,1844.
Great grandfather Alexander DONALD married Helen Darling
MASSON, March 9,1876 at Burnbrae. They are buried in
Burnbrae Cemetery, as are Alexander's parents, Peter
DONALD and Isobel TROUP and Helen's parents, Thomas
MASSON and Margaret GREIG.
Grandfather James Arthur DONALD (July 17,1880 - Feb
17,1957) lived in Campbellford all of his life. Grandmother Mary
Ellen JACOBS Born 1892 and died in Campbellford in 1971.
James Arthur and Mary Ellen gave birth to 6 children at
Campbellford, four of whom are still living. James Angus
DONALD, (June 22,1918 - Dec. 17,1943), died at Ortona Italy.
His brother, William Alexander DONALD, (Oct 27 1913 - Sept
24 1995), lived his entire life in Campbellford with his wife,
Alice Annie TRIPP, born in Campbellford Oct.13th 1913.
Several descendants still live in the area.
