 FERGUSON
Hezekiah FERGUSON traces his Ontario roots to, at least, May of 1830, when his first daughter, Lydia Margaret was born. He and his family are found in Murray Township in the 1848 Agricultural Census and the 1851 Cramahe census. Hezekiah, b. 14 Feb 1805 in Vermont, was the son of Lydia and Thomas FERGUSON, and married Annie BROCK, b. 28 Sep 1807 in Ontario. Their children are listed as: Lydia Margaret, b. 17 May 1830, Ont; Belindia, b. 22 July 1832, Ont; Fannia, b. 5 Feb 1835, NY; Maray Adaline, b. 26 Oct 1838, NY; Elizabeth, b. 5 Feb 1840, NY; Sally Ann, b. 7 Mar 1842, NY and married Ira VANDERVOORT; William Henry, b. 14 Dec 1843, Ont. married Amanda ?; Persyllia, b. 13 Dec 1845, Ont; and Ira Anson, b. 7 Aug 1847, ONT who married Sabrina EDMONDS. Nicholas is believed to have married Ann ROBLIN. His sister, Sarah Wessels, married John ROBLIN. Both families immigrated to Quebec (as Canada was then called) in 1787. Nicholas brought a wife and five children with him and petitioned for two hundred acres which was granted to him June 1, 1791 in Sophiasburg, Prince Edward County. He petitoned from Sophiasburg on Aug 2, 1797 for the additional Bounty of 1878 and in 1810 received a grant of 300 acres,Con 4, Lot 18, 100 acres and Con 4, Lot 19 ,200 acres both in Murray Twp, Northumberland County.

 HALL's of MURRAY Township


According to the 1851 Ontario Census for Murray Township, two families of HALL's lived in Murray. James HALL, a laborer, born in Ireland and aged 46 is married to Jane, also born in Ireland, aged 50. In their household is Eliza CANNER, born in Ireland, aged 8. Alex HALL, b. Ireland aged 29, and his wife, Catherine, b. Ireland 25, have children: Ann 4, Joseph 2. Both families live on Concession 1 Lot 2.

Eliza CANNER was likely a granddaughter or niece of James HALL. James was likely Alex's older brother. They immigrated to Canada from Belfast, Antrim County, Ireland, 1843-45. Alex and Catherine had 7 children born in Canada. Ann, Joseph, James, Elizabeth, William, Mary [ died young in Canada], and Patrick. Born in Ohio: Bridget.
