William and Mary WEST settled on concession 10, near Hastings, Percy Township in 1849. They came from Prince Edward County with their young family. The original log house still stands on the property (Feb 1999) and direct descendant,William WEST works the land as his ancestors did before him.
The name of WEST does appear on the 1878 map of the township. The WEST families can be traced in Upper Canada to the late 1700's.
