Benjamin NICHOLS and his wife Phoebe NORTON settled in Hamilton Township
just prior to the War of 1812. They had come up from New York State.
They farmed in the township and had eight children - six sons and two
daughters. The children were Benjamin, George, Stephen, Nathan, Aaron,
Eleazar, Judah and Abigail. Son Nathan took over the farm after
Benjamin's death in 1844. Benjamin and Phoebe are buried in St. Peter's
Anglican Churchyard, Cobourg. I am very interested in the historical tracings of this family since
Benjamin is my ggggrandfather.

Henry NEWTON and his wife Margaret (MILLS) emigrated from Midlothan Co,
Scotland to Coburg in 1844, moving to lot 13, Concession 6, Hamilton
Township some time later. Their daughter, Henrietta, married Robert, a
son of .....
James EAGLESON and his wife Susanna (JOHNSON) from County Down, Ireland
who emigated to Canada in May 1832 and settled on lot 23, Concession 6,
Hamilton Twsp.
I have a fair amount of information on the Eagleson family (names,
dates, marriages, etc., but little on "activities" as pioneers), which I
am willing to share. Anything - information or leads - you can provide would be appreciated! Please contact: David FULLER at dsfuller@erols.com

John F. PEARSON, (ca 1814 - ca
1876/81) and wife, Elizabeth ?, are listed in the 1861 census. He was a ship carpenter in 1861. He and his wife eventually
had at least seven children: Emanda (b ca 1849 US), Petruna (b ca 1851
US), Eliva (b ca 1854 US), Alvida (b ca 1856 US), Arthur Wesley (b 16
Sep 1868 ON), Effie (b ca 1867 ON), and Minnie (b ca 1877). They moved to Brighton village from New York. Anecdotal
evidence suggests that they were "Pennsyvlania Dutch", German, etc. -
even though the PEARSON name hardly appears so.
I'm anxious to find genealogical connections to all the daughters in
this family and to John and Elizabeth's parents. We have full
descendancy information on Arthur who made his way to British Columbia
and married into a pioneering BC family called TOOPS.

Haldimand Twp, Burnley. David CUMMINGS (b.1826) was
still farming in 1893 with his wife, Mary altho both were old and not well.
Sons: Fred, David, Charles, Jay, George had immigrated to USA. It is
possible David's land was granted to him and his father as part of the
Loyalist Grants. Am looking for family, past and present of David. Two of
his daughters had moved to Peterboro by 1932, Nellie and Frances. Am also
looking for the location of his farm. Am presently waiting for census
records to arrive from the National Archives in Ottawa.

Agnes MINITER (MINNITIR?) WAMBACH, 1856 - 1936, my grandmother, was born in
Ireland or Canada, depending on the census record reviewed. Trenton, Ontario, Canada is the place of birth written on her death certificate. She lived in the Trenton area prior to her marriage to Andrew WAMBACH around 1882, when her oldest son was born. Her death certificate lists Patrick MINNITER as her father, and Bridget PERCEL
as her mother, both from Ireland. I have found a Patrick Minitre and wife Bridgett listed in the 1881 Brighton
TWP, Ontario, Canada census.
Questions that remain unanswered are:
Where are Patrick Mintre and wife Bridget buried?
When and from where in Ireland did they immigrate to Canada?
Where did Agnes and Andrew Wambach marry?
Would it have had to have been in a Catholic church, or some other
denomination? If anyone has additional information as to where my grandmother came from,
whether she had any siblings and who they might be, I would be most pleased
to hear from you! Contact: Bob WAMBACH at BobWambach@aol.com

My greatgrandmother was Mary Ann LEE, born about 1849 in Port Hope and later married William JENKINS. Family recollections are of a Thomas LEE and Catherine LAWLOR as her parents, but not sure. She is buried (abt 1936) in the
Catholic Cemetery in Port Hope. William is buried with his parents, also
believed to be William, in the Union Cemetery in Port Hope. I understand
that William Jenkins Sr. was a schoolmaster. Looking for more
information? Planning a trip to Port Hope from NE Michigan in the fall to
look for more history. Please contact Terri FISHER at whitefish@voyager.net
