Mathew HOWELL, born 1798 (?) in Upper Canada, and died in state of Iowa, US, at age 78. He was a Minister
of the Methodist faith and moved to Meigs Co, OH about 1820 or perhaps before.

Seeking information on the family and ancestors of Elizabeth Ann BRENT,
Born Isle of Wight, England, in early l840s, who married Hiram WHITE (1864)
Percy Township in a Wesleyan Methodist ceremony. They were next in Iowa in l871.
Marriage record for Hiram lists Bayham as his residence (probably Elgin
County), and Nathan WHITE as his father. Land records in Elgin County
reveal that a Nathan WHITE purchased land in l840, so there is good
chance they were father and son. I have also discovered a Nathan WHITE
is listed as member of the Northumberland Militia 1828-29. Hiram died in Iowa in 1899 at age
60. but the death certificate and other documents reveal nothing.
I would like to find out more about Elizabeths life in Canada and fill in a lot of blanks
about origins(particularly Nathans) , possible relatives, other
surnames, places of residence, etc. If you know anything of this family, please contact: John WHITE at johnw@rasmussen.edu

Need info on Matthew (Mathew) HOWELL b. ca 1795-8 Upper Canada (Ontario)
left and went to Meigs Co. OH was on the 1820 census there - may have been
there earlier as his first son John Wesley HOWELL born 1817 - Or, he could
have been m. in Ontario before going to Meigs CO. OH - do not have name of
his first wife. Believe his father is the Matthew HOWELL (SR?)as one of the
early pioneers of Murray Township and obtained various pieces of land
there - he supposedly was a King's Orange Ranger out of New Jersey and said
he was a Serjeant. A William HOWELL who was his son got land via his
father's UEL status and it is believed William is the brother of my Matthew
mentioned above as going to Meigs CO. OH - the Howell's going to Meigs were
William, Matthew (JR?), Joseph, John Wesley, David, et al - any info you may
give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Please contact: Lynn KAPPELMAN, of Texas, USA
