A Poetic Effusion.
Oh many scenes this earth contains, one panorama view,
Since first it was launched into open space it has many scenes gone through.
The bloody scenes of battlefields of war's internal strife.
The peaceful scenes, the blessings of our intellectual life;
The horrid scenes in intemperance, the darkest of them all.
Have filled this world with misery and draped the funeral pall;
These have been duly chronicled by time's historic muse.
But the Frankhill scenes shall be the theme of "My Grand Resolvent Views"
The first grand scene we introduced in competition's
The scenery we do produce of which Frankhill is blest.
The beauty of its verdant fields, its hills and valleys fair.
All richly dressed in nature's green; its balmy sunlit air,
And if you wish the scene to change, another view to take,
Beneath in dazzling splendour lies the far-famed Pigeon Lake;
These have been duly chronicled by time's historic muse,
Kind friends assist what nature blest, "My Grand Resolvent Views."
View this grand scene before you, upon it mediate,
The poet, historian and statesman may on it contemplate.
The country here is famed for health, thrift and sobriety,
The county here shows signs of wealth, peace and prosperity;
Kind heaven has blessed those verdant fields with rich and fertile soil.
Which, aided by art and industry, rewards the farmer's toil;
These have been duly chronicled by time's historic muse,
Then forma rind with me and sing "My Grand Resolvent Views.
The next grand scene we introduce of our selection,
A merry group of girls and boys in this Frankhill school section,
Pandora's box contains the gem; she guards it as a treasure,
But from the bottom of that box we snatch the fabled charmer;
And hope to see some future day when "worth" shall be the rule
That the rulers of Ontario may come from Frankhill school.
This scene may yet be chronicled by time's historic muse,
Then you will sing the joyful song, "My Grand Resolvent View.
Another scene we yet must paint, which in futurity lies,
And view the town of Frankhill astir with enterprise;
When it shall vie with other towns in gallant rivalry,
And be proclaimed through Canada, the home of chivalry.
When lofty domes and minarets shall glitter in the sun's ray,
And our dark nights with electric lights shall shine more bright than day;
When telegraph or telephone shall view the daily news
Then I will add another verse to "My Grand Resolvent Views."
