The 1857 Port Hope town directory is an extremely valuable resource for locating the exact location of your ancestors. Town and village directories usually show street addresses, and give an idication as to whether the property was owned or rented. Examination of these directories often gives valuable clues as to family relationships, where properties are close to each other.
Land registry records for individual properties may be available. Land registry records contain valuable information, particularily arrival/departure dates for your ancestors.
